Burberry Christmas Tree

Each year Claridges hotel, london commisions a prominent guest designer to create the hotels iconic christmas tree. Christopher Bailey, Cheif creative for Burberry was approached in 2015, and created a 6 meter tall tree, assembled from 100 mirrored gold and silver umberellas, and 76,000 interactive LED's.

Bild was approached by lighting designer Nick Grey of Renagade Studio, with the breif of specing a control solution for the LED lighting that would enable hotel guests to bring the tree to life with their movements. Together with Matt Swoboda of 10bit FX, we created a optical flow solution combining four cameras embedded within the tree. These fed into a d3 system triggering pre defined sequences and interactive effects.
